Education and Experience

Originally from Erie, Pennsylvania, Jarrod began his interest in guitar at 16, playing with various rock groups in his high school years. He went on to study the classical guitar at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. While at Edinboro, Jarrod received the Edinboro University Guitar Achievement and performed in master classes with world-renown artists such as: Brian Head, Ronald Pearl, Jason Vieaux, and Roland Dyens.

After receiving his Bachelor’s in Music Education, Jarrod moved to Chicago to study at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University for his Master’s in Classical Guitar Performance. During his time there, he studied under Denis Azabagic and performed in master classes with Margherita Escarpa, the Eden-Stell Duo, and Sergio Assad.

Although Mr. Courter chose to focus on the classical guitar, he also has experience in various styles including blues, jazz, rock, and folk.
