String Teacher (Violin/Viola/Cello)

Education and Experience

Iordanka received her musical training at the Bulgarian National Academy of Music, where she was a student of Professor George Bliznev and George Monov (performing artist coming from the finest Russian tradition in violin playing, associated with Professor Eidlin and David Oistrakh).

As a soloist Iordanka have appeared with Chicago Businessmen’s Orchestra, performing the violin concerto by D. Kabalevsky. From 1996 to 2014, she was the principal second violin for the Northwest Symphony Orchestra under Paul Vermel. She was a member of Illinois Symphony Orchestra in Springfield and Green Bay Symphony Orchestra in Wisconsin, member of Resurrection Orchestra of St. John Cantius Church, Oak Park and River Forest Symphony Orchestra. In August 2004, Iordanka gave the World Premiere of Violin Concerto #2 by Michael Karasis with Chicago Virtuosi Symphony Orchestra and Paul Vermel. In March 2009, she performed “Scottish Fantasy” by Bruch together with NSO under maestro Paul Vermel.

Since 2006, Iordanka have been an active member of New Budapest Orpheum Society – performing throughout the Chicagoland area, touring in the United States and Europe, and with a complete CD recording under Cedille Records, which was nominated for a Grammy in 2015 for Best Classical Compendium in recognition of the Album “As Dreams Fall Apart.” She has taught Strings at Classic Violins in Mundelein, IL since 2017, and most recently, Orchestra Teacher of 4-8th grades at DaVinci Waldorf School in Wauconda, IL.

Iordanka is a very active as a private violin, viola, and beginning cello teacher in the Chicago area since 1996, in addition to her performing career. She have been passing her passion and love for music to her students using traditional, Suzuki and other appropriate and innovative methods for every individual student, of any age and level from 3-year olds to adult.
