Education and Experience
Matt Tatlock is a Wisconsin-born percussionist and currently resides in Chicago. While he has an extensive background in drum set and percussion, Matt is a multi-instrumentalist who plays piano and some classical guitar.
He has been playing drum set for about 25 years and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a concentration in Percussive Performance from the University of Wisconsin Parkside. In 2019, Matt received his Master’s in Education from the University of St. Francis. Since 2012 he has been a full-time music teacher.
Since moving to Chicago in 2016, he has performed with the Lake Shore Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Metropolitan Orchestra. He plays piano and percussion for a church in Roscoe Village and is the drummer for a funk band in Evanston.
Matt has been teaching privately for over a decade and has given drum set lessons to students of all skill levels and ages. His students have been featured at Summerfest in Milwaukee and have consistently received high rankings at the state solo and ensemble competitions. Currently, he works for Chicago Public Schools teaching choir and classical guitar.
