Childhood
Margarita Nikolov has been connected to music since childhood. Growing up in a family of musicians, from early age she began singing and taking piano lessons, and at the age of 10 she started playing flute. Margarita graduated from National School of Music and Fine Arts “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”, Burgas, Bulgaria in the class of Mrs. Zhenya Grindlerova. She participated in National Competition for Performance of Bulgarian Musical Composition “Varban Varbanov”, Burgas, Bulgaria where she won 1st Prize for Flute Performance and 2nd Prize for Ensemble, as well as 1st Prize for Chamber Music in the Contest for Performance of German and Austrian Music “M.A.G.I.C.” Burgas, Bulgaria. Mrs. Nikolov has participated in a master class of Prof. Lydia Oshavkova “Burgas Summer Music Seminar ” and in “First Flute Festival, Burgas – Plovdiv” with Prof. Yasuo Yamamoto.
Higher Education and Competitions
In 2007, Margarita Nikolov was first received at the National Music Academy “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”, Sofia, Bulgaria in Prof. Lydia Oshavkova’s flute class where 5 years later she completed her Master degree with excellence. During the period of her higher education she participated in the International Competition “Music and Earth” in Sofia, Bulgaria, where received the 2nd Prize for Chamber Music, and won 3rd Prize in the Academic Contest “Nikola Stefanov”, Sofia, Bulgaria. She also attended the master class of Prof. Philippe Bernold in Plovdiv. Mrs. Nikolov presented herself as a soloist of the Burgas Philharmonic Orchestra, the Youth Philharmonic Orchestra in Burgas, as well as the Academic Orchestra of the National Music Academy, Sofia, where she also worked as a orchestra player in 2009.
Experience
From 2010 to 2014 Margarita Nikolov was a flute teacher in National School of Music and Fine Arts “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” Burgas, Bulgaria, where she enjoyed great interest from students and their high achievements and awards from various competitions and appearances. In the same period Mrs. Nikolov worked as 1st flute at the Burgas Wind Orchestra and Opera Burgas, as well as a flute performer for the agency “Musica in Maschera”, Rome-Venice, Italy, while also staging solo and chamber concerts. For her great participation in the cultural life of Burgas, she has been awarded with Public Honors for High Musical Achievements by the mayor of Burgas.
In 2016 Margarita Nikolov moved to Chicago, where with her husband – Zhivko Nikolov formed Duo “Eutopia” and currently are performing on various events in Chicago and the suburbs, as well as teaching together at 6VibeZ.
